Bender Foundry Service

Doug and Joyce Bender discovered a need by foundries for outsourced cores. So in 1990 they formed a corporation for the purpose of providing quality cores to the foundry industry. The business was opened in a 15,000 sq. ft. rented building, with one customer. After three years, Bender Foundry Service, Inc. (BFS) was moved to its current location at 1410 East SADC Avenue in Sigourney, Iowa in a 28,800 sq. ft. building. The new location afforded the Bender's the opportunity for growth as the demand for outsourced cores increased. Today, BFS operates out of a 69,928 sq. ft. facility in Sigourney, Iowa.

Kohler

A LEGACY IN THE MAKING

Our company’s founder, John Michael Kohler, was an Austrian immigrant, a businessman and a visionary. In 1873 he purchased a foundry in rural Wisconsin that produced a variety of cast-iron and steel products.

Ten years later, Kohler took a product in his line, heated it to 1700°F and sprinkled it with enamel powder. Placing a picture of it in the center of his one-page catalog, he called it “a horse trough/hog scalder . . . when furnished with four legs will serve as a bathtub.” Kohler was in the plumbing business.

From those humble beginnings, our company has grown into a multifaceted global family of brands that lead the way to enhance our customers’ sense of gracious living.

LVM

The birthplace of great cores

A good core starts here. If you have a bad mix of sand and resin, you'll be gassing raw sand all day and it won't cure. We know LOI's and they don't get any better than this. We volumetrically measure sand and resin and additives - and not a single pump to calibrate....(because most foundries don't calibrate anyway). It can supply one or several machines.

Parts Support

With you 24/7

Your Laempe machine is the finest core machine in the world. Built with exacting qualities and engineering. It was also designed with parts that work well together. But like any machine, it will need parts to keep it that way. We have invested over $3,000,000 to have the right part - even the ones we don't make. We also know your Laempe machine won't always need a part in the middle of the day so we have a 24/7 parts hotline that will get you the right part when you need it. Our team is ready to answer any part questions you have to keep your Laempe running factory -new.

LFB

It just works.

The LFB comes with hydraulic clamping, hydraulic corebox latches, and an integrated gas generator. We run these at our CoreRoom and our machines have over 2 million cycles on them. This quickly became the industry standard for coreshooters.
